Conn 6M Model VIII Alto Sax “Naked Lady” Pre-war circa 1940-41 * no neck * AS IS
This alto sax is being offered AS-IS because it is missing a neck and it has not been serviced. It appears to have been taken care of but it looks like it has sat for a while and will need some set up and adjustment to play as well as a neck.
What we have here is a Conn 6M VIII alto saxophone. The etching on the bell depicts a naked lady which is why these have become known the Conn Naked Lady saxophones. The serial number dates it to around 1940-1941 which would place it right at the edge of the Pre-war era. The tone holes are rolled. In addition to the horn needing a neck and set up there are a few other cosmetic issues that should be mentioned. There are some spots of oxidation on the lacquer and some pitting, some scuffs and scratches. Overall though the lacquer is in pretty good shape considering the age. The Conn case is included and it does have some cosmetic wear as you’d expect. The purple interior has faded and is worn and the outer shell is marked with scuffs and scratches but the handle is still intact and it will still protect the horn.
